Newfound Sound is the only women's barbershop chorus in NL. Established in 1985, we've been performing for over 30 years! We've been involved in many wonderful fundraisers, raising money for cancer support programs like Daffodil Place, Pink Days in Bloom, Sing for Care and supporting the local women's centre and food banks. We have performed for the Children's Wish Foundation, the Eating Disorder Foundation Gala and Commissariat House Old Fashioned Christmas. We've shared our song with the Lieutenant Governor at Government House and even entertained the Queen during one of her visits to our province!
What makes our chorus unique is the singing style. We've been proud members of Harmony Incorporated since 1988, an international organization whose mission is empowerment for all women through educaiton, friendship and a cappella singing. We've competed in the Area 1 and international barbershop contests. We were awarded the Silver Division level at contest in Sackville, NB, in May 2019.
Under the energetic and creative direction of Branden Olsen, we are 30 women who come together every week to blend song with friendship, and create a wonderful space for learning and fine-tuning our craft. Our repertoire covers a variety of generes, including traditional, pop and inspirational selections.
